EXODUS Prepare To Record New Album, Embark On European Tour
August 26, 2002Reunited San Francisco Bay Area thrashers EXODUS are tentatively planning on entering Sonic Ranch (formerly Village Productions) studio in Tornillo, Texas in late October/early November to begin tracking their much-anticipated new CD for a late spring release, according to manager Steve Warner.
Manning the knobs during the sessions will be acclaimed producer Andy Sneap (i.e. MACHINE HEAD, SKINLAB, NEVERMORE, etc.),who will mix the effort at his Backstage facility in Derbyshire, England.
As previously reported, the as-yet-untitled album will likely surface through a new label entity formed by former EXODUS manager Toni Isabella and one-time Capitol Records A&R executive Rachel Matthews (who signed EXODUS and RIGOR MORTIS to the label back in the late '80s). "The money is there and Andy is there...we are just waiting for the band to be ready," says Warner.
Among the tracks tentatively set to be included on the album are reworked versions of two songs originally written for and demoed by WARDANCE, the ill-fated mid-'90s act formed by EXODUS guitarist Gary Holt and drummer Tom Hunting.
The songs in question — which have the working titles of "Throwing Down" and "AnGary" — "are very mid-tempo," acknowledges Steve, but "I was at the practice this week and heard a couple of the other new ones, and they were very fast and heavy."
In other news, EXODUS will be joined by none other than Swedish thrashers THE HAUNTED and German beer-obsessed metalheads TANKARD during their two-date Greek tour in December, which will be followed by additional shows in the UK, France, Belgium and the Netherlands.
